Pontiac is the world famous car manufacturing company which was introduced in the year 1926. General Motors founded this company. For the first time the name Pontiac was used by “Pontiac Spring and Wagon Works†during 1900. From the name of an American Indian chief (Chief Pontiac) the name Pontiac was taken who had led an uprising war against the British after the French and the Indian war. The Wagon Works, the “Pontiac Spring†and the “Oakland Motor Company†merged in the year 1908 in November under the name of “Oakland Motor Car Companyâ€. Finally, in the year 1909, General motors purchased the Oakland Company. The first Pontiac manufactured by the General Motor Company had introduced an affordable six cylinder car.
